Do you want to try out this new recipe. It involves taking one Iphone and grinding it in a blender. You can season it with mustard seeds if you wish. Here is a demo.

Boeing Vs Airbus

July 11, 2007

There is always debate on which is a better company. The commonality between these two companies ends with the fact that they make aircrafts. Airbus based in Europe has a socialistic upbringing with trade unions and such and Boeing on the other hand is almost 100% capitalistic. One is a complex multi country alliance and the other is a single corporate hegemony. Given the cut-throat market for aircrafts it is always welcome news when arch-rivals applaud the other’s efforts. Here is what the Airbus CEO has to say about the launch of the 787 dreamliner from Boeing

“Even if tomorrow Airbus will get back to the business of competing vigorously, today is Boeing’s day — a day to celebrate the 787. Today is a great day in aviation history. Whenever such a milestone is reached in our industry it is always a reflection of hard work by dedicated people inspired by the wonder of flight.”

True leaders are those who take a moment to recognize the rival and applaud their strengths. I beleive recognizing your opponent is a sign of strength and not weakness.

Here is more the launch of the Dreamliner.

Bangalore Express to get competition

July 9, 2007

Some welcome news for the disenchanted Indian Travellers.

WASHINGTON: Long suffering Air India loyalists flying between India and the US will soon have option of forgoing layovers in Europe and East Asia with the introduction of several direct, non-stop flights between the two countries over the next few months.

The third route to be introduced later this year or early 2008 will link San Francisco, hub for Silicon Valley, with Bangalore, India’s Silicon Plateau.

This direct non-stop will muscle into a heavily trafficked route currently dominated by Lufthansa, whose flight via Frankfurt is dubbed the “Bangalore Express” because it shuttles techies between the two IT hubs.

You have metrics to indicate how many readers visit your blog, but have you wondered which sites link to your blog and how many such links to your blogs exist. The growth of a blogger is typically indicated by the number of “inlinks”. It’s almost like “quoting” someone in blogspeak. So here is how many times one of my favorite bloggers “bb” has been inlinked. You should be able to do the same for any url. There are a number of other nifty features in site explorer. Enjoy site exploring!

Power and Responsibility

July 3, 2007

This is a continuation of my previous post regarding the Google Health blog posted by Google Employee Lauren Turner. What she did was express “her” opinion in a “company” blog. Everyone is colored by his or her leanings to a given situation. Unfortunately she just happened to pick the wrong forum to express her opinion. I think a lot of us figured this one out rather easily and are willing to forgive Lauren and move on with our lives. Certain things become very clear from this gaffe. People are watching the blogosphere like hawks and if your mission has something on the lines of “do no evil” you’ll have hawks by day and owls by night watching your every move 🙂

When would i not want to be a blogger?

July 2, 2007

I would not want to be a blogger if I were Lauren Turner. For people not familiar with this whole episode this may be an oppurtunity to judge. For starters here is Lauren’s first post . This was followed up with her next post. With just these two pieces of information let me know what you think. I will post my thoughts and cover the bigger picture in a bit.

it’s a selfish world after all.

June 29, 2007

Just realized something that the world is increasingly becoming a selfish place. Look at some of the hot companies and products out in the market. “i”-phone, “my”-space, “i”-pod, “i”-tunes etc. So it is no wonder kids end up fighting with each other for everything and not understand what it means to share. Maybe kids will stop fighting when we have products such as “our”-phone or “our”-space. Steve Jobs you need to consider this and maybe give “me” the “our””i”-phone 🙂

Save the Environment by hitting the treadmill

June 29, 2007

Pretty interesting thought right? I am not proposing a new device that can convert the kinetic energy to electrical energy to glow light bulbs. Apparently a study from the University of Illinois has concluded that obesity is a big factor is the consumption of gasoline. Upto 2.2 billion dollars worth of gasoline could have been conserved had people watched their waist line. So now you know why southwest serves only peanuts and diet coke 🙂

Microsoft and Brilliant Tutorials

June 27, 2007

What do the two have in common apart from a number of the Brilliant Alumni being part of the MS workforce? And No! Microsoft is not moving from Redmond to Masilamani Street! apparently the fruit and flower sellers gave Bill Gates a hard bargain 🙂

Microsoft is enterting the cut throat PC biz starting with India. This PC is being targetted towards the student population and will be pre loaded with software from a number of vendors including Brilliant.
